DARED 2021 – Get Active This Summer
“DARED was exactly the challenge I needed to get my going again after a prolonged period of laziness had set in. The support from the other participants was amazing and kept me going through highs and lows!”
What is DARED?
Put simply DARED means Doing A Run Every Day in June.
You can choose between two distances and can complete them as a series of runs, brisk walks or a combination of the two. You can choose to complete them individually or in groups, outside in the fresh air or on a treadmill.
The Beginners’ Challenge: Complete a 1 mile run every day in June.
The Experienced Challenge: Complete a 5km run every day in June.
“I loved it, I couldn’t believe how my confidence with my fitness soared. I also thought the social media support was awesome & since completing DARED 2020 I am 3 runs from completing couch to 5k – I have never been able to run longer than 3 mins before & thanks to DARED I am now at 28 minutes whilst raising awareness for an amazing charity. I can’t wait for 2021 event!”
Reasons to take part:
- For new runners – by choosing the 1 mile daily run you will empower yourself to get active, exercise and improve your physical health
- For experienced runners – by choosing the 5km daily run you are challenging yourself to run 150km in June. That’s 3 1/2 marathons in a month.
- For your mental health – our active community of runners share challenges, accomplishments and support on Facebook and Strava.
- For the local community – by taking part you will make a difference in the lives of local children and families impacted by poverty, abuse, substance use and imprisonment. You can choose to fundraise or pay an upfront donation with your entry fee.
“A fantastic event to take part in with a wonderful community spirit through social media and Strava. Will definitely be taking part again next year!”
