Six staff have also now been trained in the Parents Under Pressure (PuP) Parenting Programme. This is an accredited programme developed by Professor Sharon Dawe and Dr. Paul Harnett from Griffith University, Australia. The programme is aimed at working with vulnerable families and lends itself to substance using families extremely well. It is a structured programme with 12 modules that can be selected in terms of priority areas of work. There is an emphasis on mindfulness and emotional availability. The training started in January 2015 and will continue throughout the year. Although it is early days the initial impact has been encouraging with some families enjoying the structure of the work and responding well to the feedback that the programme encourages. This will be an ongoing area of learning and development for the team.
