As part of the George Heriots Voluntary Programme, each year, a group of sixth year pupils volunteer at our Mentoring Project, which provides support to local primary school children.
Circle’s relationship with George Heriots has continued to develop, and recently, we’ve had some staff and students take part in the Edinburgh Kiltwalk to raise money for then children and families we support. The group took part in the Big Stroll event, walking 14.6 miles across Edinburgh.
“The Heriot’s Team had a brilliant day out completing the Kiltwalk and supporting an excellent cause. We are grateful for the partnership we hold with Circle and were delighted to support the fantastic work they do.”- Ruth Jack, Principal Teacher of External Engagements | Partnerships
The Kiltwalk is a unique Scottish charity event, which brings together walkers of all ages and abilities for an unforgettable fun day. The event takes place every year to raise funds for Scottish charities and projects. There are different walk lengths, in different cities, on different dates to choose from, including The Mighty Stride (16.5 miles), The Big Stroll (14.6 miles) and The Wee Wander (3.5 miles). The Wee Wander is suitable for children and has wheelchair and pram accessibility, so there really is something for everyone!
The Kiltwalk events are now over for 2022 but stay tuned for dates being released for 2023 if you are ready to take on the challenge!
Thanks to the generosity of The Hunter Foundation, all funds raised for Circle are topped up by a huge 50% and the George Heriots Team raised an amazing total of £984 for Circle’s children and families!
A huge thanks to all George Heriots students and staff who sported their finest tartan and walked the 14.6 miles to raise money for Circle’s children and families, who need our support now more than ever.
