Haven completed their third storytelling week with local families. The project staff walked around Cammo Estate with the parents and children, collecting ideas, objects and inspiration for their story. Mike Nicholson, an Edinburgh-based author who writes children’s fiction, led the creative session forming the main body of the story.
A draft story was edited by the parents and children and artwork was completed for the main themes of the story. The first full recital of the draft book, ‘The Alien Assignment’, was conducted by Mike during a celebration event at the Haven Project, attended by children, parents and staff. The storyboards in the background helped the story come to life. The book itself will be published later in the year.
