In February Julie and Alex from Circle’s Haven Project, in partnership with Kelly Barclay from Barnardo’s, started their first Psychology of Parenting Project (PoPP) ‘Incredible Years’ group. The Incredible Years is a 14 week intensive parenting course for parents who have children aged 3-5 years. The aim of the programme is to prevent and address young children’s behavioural problems and promote their social, emotional and academic persistence. Eleven parents have attended the group with initial feedback being very positive and some parents already reporting positive changes when implementing strategies promoted within the programme.
East Lothian staff are also in the process of preparing for starting up an ‘Increadible Years’ Group. Kate has already been trained and is involved in getting groups up and running with a colleague from East Lothian Children’s Well-being and Bob is due to start his training in Incredible Years soon.
